Railway Exhibit

In 1912, the Canadian Northern Railway extended its Inwood branchline north from Drake station. The first town on it's route would be Argyle Station. Within a few years the post office, store, school and other businesses joined the station, elevator and stockyards. Argyle was born.

Argyle and area grew and prospered for many years thanks to the railway. In 1922, Canadian Northern became Canadian National Railways with the amalgamation of several railways into one. CNR continued to serve Argyle until 1991 when the Inwood branch was removed.

The Argyle Prairie Museum is proud to preserve and display railway memorabilia that reflects this early mode of travel. With the Ekhart railway station as our centerpeice, daily life of a rural station comes to life with artifacts and displays of yesteryear.
